Jake Fruend

I’m a freelance graphic designer in Chicago, a native of St. Louis, a theatre nerd, and a Pillsbury Cook-Off Winner.

Why though?

I moved to Chicago in 2009, and started my hustle in the city’s vast theatre community. A large majority of my projects are campaigns for non-profit performing arts organizations. Theatre was my first artistic love and — like great theatre — at the core of my work is a desire to tell stories, evoke emotion, and inspire action.

What’s on the table?

What’s still cookin’?

I’m currently learning the basics of animation with Adobe After Effects.
I’d also like to get more experience with illustration and hand-made elements.

Who do you know?

My current and former clients include Northwestern University, Chicago House & Social Services Agency, Project Fierce, Columbia College Chicago, DePaul University, Kaleidoscope Vintage, Amy’s Candy Bar, Torch Singer Vintage, Flat Fifth Vintage, The Book Patch, Nicholas Senn High School, Williamson Health & Associates, Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4), Elixir Lounge, Hydrate Nightclub, the Joseph Jefferson Awards, the League of Chicago Theatres, and the following theatre companies:

Steppenwolf Theatre, Mary Arrchie Theatre, Jackalope Theatre, Raven Theatre, Northlight Theatre, The Yard, About Face Theatre, Red Theater, Nothing Without a Company, The Wirtz Center for Performing Arts, Mercy Street Theatre, Compass Theatre Collective, The No Stakes Theatre Project, Block Street Theatre, The Electric Brain, The Kinematics, and The Neo-Futurists.

Who’s my favorite child?

My work with Raven, hands down.
